Buzz Rickson’s BR80539 William Gibson G-1 Jacket BlackClutch Cafe
One of the most iconic flight jackets of all time receives a 'counterculture cool' update from Buzz Rickson, being released in an all-black variant as part of their William Gibson Collection.
The collaboration was established in 2004 after Gibson attributed a black MA-1 to Buzz Rickson, worn by the main character in his novel 'Pattern Recognition'. The jacket didn't exist, but such demand for the jacket spurred Buzz Rickson to reach out and create a collection inspired by the fictional all-black MA-1.
Produced in small numbers, a classic piece in the Buzz catalogue receives an all-black makeover and this AN-6552 is a standout piece from the collection. The U.S Navy jacket which would eventually become known as the G-1 is a fantastically engineered piece which exudes functionality and style.
All details of this 1943 contract have produced to the highest standard. Made from an incredible veg-tanned, hand aniline-dyed goatskin, plush motion collar and 100% wool knits every component is of the highest quality. One of the most notable characteristics of this jacket is the ‘bi-swing’ back, designed to allow downed Navy pilots to swim and allows for exceptional range of motion and comfort when wearing.
All in all, this is a great reproduction with some instant blacker than black cool.
