Buzz Rickson's x William Gibson N-3B Slender No Stencil Black
Buzz Rickson's

The collaboration between Buzz and William Gibson was established in 2004 after Gibson attributed a black MA-1 to Buzz Rickson's, worn by the main character in his novel 'Pattern Recognition'. The jacket didn't exist, but such demand for the jacket spurred Buzz Rickson's to reach out and create a collection inspired by the fictional all-black MA-1.
In 1945, the U.S. Army Air Force issued the Jacket, Aircrew, Heavy, Type N-3 - the first of a long line of very successful N-3 style parkas. The N-3 evolved into the N-3B by 1958 and was described as "for aircrew members in extremely cold environments." The N-3B was a single breasted, four pocket, 3/4 length parka with an outer layer of nylon twill (typically sage green), insulated with a layer of wool pile fabric and lined with nylon cloth. The integrated parka hood was fur-trimmed and mouton lined and has been affectionately nicknamed the "Snorkel Parka" because the hood can be zipped up, leaving only a small opening (the snorkel) for looking out.
The Buzz Rickson's x William Gibson N-3B is cut from 2/2 Heavy Nylon Twill Government Use, replicated to be as close to original garment and fabrics as possible, although coming in a black colour-way. Buzz Rickson's have faithfully reproduced this single breasted four pocket classic using a 60% Wool / 40% Cotton Pile for the interlining and U. S. Government Department of Defense Spec snap buttons and Mil spec urea buttons.
An updated slender fit and no stencil completes the look.
