Originally standardised in 1942 Army issue general service boot designed to be worn with service gaters the M-42 is almost identical style to the jump boot issued to U.S Paratroopers only differing in height.
Made from a russet leather with brogues toe cap they are definitely more formal than the rough out type III replacement though have a tougher construction than the type I due to the two-piece rubber composite sole unit.
Every detail of this boot has been replicated down to the finest detail, built around the U.S Army's used of the 'Munson' last they have a broad spade shape foot shape design to be comfortably worn for extended periods of time. The composite sole and heel units are marked with the original 'Light-Tread' U.S. Army markings along with the correct quartermaster and contract no stamps inside.
The cowhide uppers are finished using a double tanning process which included an initial chromium-sulphite stage to increase water resistance then finished with a vegetable tanning to finished the outer at the correct russet shade.
All in all a boot that was design to stand up to the toughest tests, and with Buzz Rickson's exacting standards they could be put through their paces.
