Over the past couple of years Fine Creek have been making a name for themselves with their unique and individual leather jackets. Here we have the Richmond, their take on the classic 506XX/Type 1 jacket famously first produced in the 1940's by Levi's.

The Richmond is cut from a 1.2mm thick, vegetable tanned, aniline dyed horse hide from the renowned Himeji Tannery in Japan. The leather is tanned using a unique recipe that Yoshikatsu Yamazaki has developed over the years spent working in the leather industry. The dying process creates a top coat that will wear over time revealing the natural brown undertones of the hide. This is often referred to as tea-core leather for the golden brown tones that appear over time.

Each jacket is stitched in their Tokyo studio with great skill, using a fine stitch-count which is extremely hard to achieve on leather manufacturing. The Richmond has been produced with the same sewing techniques as seen on vintage denim jackets to enhance the puckering through the seams creating wonderful, subtle areas of character that run through each garment.

The Richmond features all details found in the Type 1 jacket. A button front with boxed pleats and single chest pocket with button flap pocket give the iconic look while the jacket is complete with cinch on the back. A black pigment dyed cotton liner completes the look.

These jackets are truly unique and like their denim equivalents only get better with age.
