Jelado 23413 Alaska Sukajan JacketClutch Cafe
Jelado's approach is always a little different, where most would produce a reproduction of the classic post war 'Japan' souvenir jackets of the 40's & 60's, they decide to produce the much harder to find 'Alaska' version from an original in their archives.
Inspired by the earlier Japanese examples gone are the dragons & tigers instead being replaced by embroidered native motifs of rams, walruses and polar bears. Made to the same fully reversible bomber jacket design, one side is made from a yellow / off white satin rayon while the other is a blue with orange detailing. The knits are 100% wool and woven double sided to accent either side colourings with a YKK 'two-way' reversible zipper. 'Americas Last Frontier' refers to the remoteness and inhospitable nature of Alaska which with Hawaii was the last of the territories to become a sovereign state in 1959.
Original examples of Alaska souvenir jackets are highly sought after being privately made for stationed servicemen in much smaller numbers. Jelado recaptures perfectly the style and playful design of these classic jackets which have a timeless flare to their style.
