Jelado CT13416 MA-1 JacketJelado
A collaboration between Jelado and the much-respected Colimbo, this MA-1 is produced to a very high standard, with a slightly updated pattern, slimming down the silhouette and adding a bit of length to the body.
First introduced in the late 1950s, the MA-1 was part of the new updated generation of flight jacket for the jet age; keeping the overall design of its predecessor, the B-15, but abolishing the mouton collar, and eventually, other components as technologies developed and necessities changed.
The CT13416 uses a later pattern of the MA-1, which simplifies the design, removing the oxygen tab on the front and radio cable-clips on either side of the chest; cleaning the overall look, making it a much easier and less fussy jacket to wear.
The shell is made using a quality '66' Nylon, known for its super-hardwearing properties, while still remaining supple and breathable. The nylon as an iridescent quality to it, which changes colour in the light, though the overall colour is the late 50's shade of 'sage green' used by the USAF.
Lined in contrasting green nylon, the jacket is insulated with a wool pile, with two-ply wool knitted ribbing and boasts 4 large snap pockets: two exterior hand- warmer and two internal 'map' pockets; as well as a small zipped 'utilities' on the left sleeve.
All in all, a great updated pattern of an iconic jacket, which as with many military items crossed over to the streetwear and fashion scene.
