Jelado Lot. 404SZ 44' Denim Jacket IndigoJelado
Jelado's '44 Collection is inspired by production of denim during WWII, when the U.S Government levied sanctions against factories and production to save on raw materials need for the war effort.
The '44 denim is made and designed as such, with paired back features found throughout the jacket produced 'for the duration'. In particular this jacket tries to replicate the simplified design adopted by Levis for their Type I jacket during the war; removing the pocket flap and a button from the front placket. The 404SZ also incorporates a rare 'T' back design found on larger jackets from around this time.
The denim itself is woven from a blend Memphis & Zimbawean cotton, using Memphis cotton for the warp and Zimbabwean for the weft to create a 14oz which is soft and will form to the wearer.
The buttons used are of the war time spec 'laurel wreath' design found on most military and civilian clothing at his time, which have been oxidised and aged giving them an interesting vintage patina adding to the overall vintage feel of the item which Jelado has painstakingly reproduced.
