KUON Open Collar Shirt Bishamon Kikko Chocolate/BleachedKUON
Challenging the existing notion on vintage clothing, KUON revitalises traditional Japanese boro and re-purposes these rich materials and fabrics for the modern day.
Here we have the Bishamon Kikko Open Collar Shirt, one of our favourites from KUON for the AW21 season. In Japan, Kikko, or the pattern made by hexagons evoke the shells of tortoises, and is such associated with longevity. The armours of samurais were sometimes made by sewing together small hexagons in thick leather or in metal to bring luck and longevity and luck in battle.
KUON have brought this pattern back to life in their own inimitable way, demonstrating what they do best. Cut to the style of 1950's open collar shirts, the Open Collar Bishamon Kikko shirt has a regular fit and also features a single chest pocket as well as a button front. This style has been gradient dyed to give a used appearance while the back is cut slightly longer to give a modern, casual look.
