The US during WW2 faced huge restrictions, great hardship and limited resources. Production restrictions were imposed to conserve precious materials that had a profound affect on denim production. Details were simplified and denim gradually became more utilitarian workwear.
Much like denim jeans from period, the jacket had a simplified design due to the wartime production restrictions. The number of buttons were reduced from five down to four and the pocket flap was removed.
One Piece of Rock's original 13.5 oz denim fabric is woven by the revered denim looms of Okayama. This fabric weight was generally issued during WW2 due to the rationing of raw materials and Kanaka san has painstakingly reproduced this exact fabric utilising Japan's modern denim technology.
The S406XXX by One Piece of Rock is entirely constructed by hand by Kanaka san and features all details present in vintage WW2 production denim jackets.
