Souvenir jackets, also known as suka-jans have a vibrant a rich history dating back to the post-war occupation of Japan. Servicemen stationed overseas would have these jackets made for themselves or a loved one embroidered with local motifs and imagery to bring home as a memento.

For SS22, Tailor Toyo has produced a rare example of a Sukajan which dates to the late 50s. Unlike the reversible, collarless satin and silk jacket produced around this time, the "Landscape" model more closely resembles the later 'Vietnam' souvenir jackets of the 1960s, with collar, buttoned cuffs and 'windbreaker' design.

This model has been aged to emulate fading due to wear which you would find on worn examples; the cotton/twill shell has a grey-ish hue and mooted colour of the embroidered stitching.

All details of this jacket are faithfully reproduced as you would expect from Toyo Enterprises and is a modern menswear classic easy to wear with a touch of irreverent rebelliousness.
