Warehouse & Co have been producing authentic, high quality garments since 1995. Warehouse continue with their standard aesthetic and development of iconic, classic pieces that have served them so well for over 25 years.

The Lot. 2210 will be sure to serve you well in any Winter climate and bat away any cold! This Down Coat is modelled on one of Eddie Bauer's earliest designs, with the patent issued in 1941, the USAAF Geddes Parka, only a few years after his first down jacket, the Skyliner, patented in 1936.

The design is borrowed of the 1930's lightweight quilted down suit intended for Alaskan Bush pilots, but later adopted by the U.S Air Force in the early 40's. These were favoured over heavy B-7 Sheepskin jackets by some crew due to their lightweight nature & high heat retention. Named after Lt John Geddes who favoured this jacket who gave the nickname.

The War effort would rapidly grow Eddie Bauer's business, eventually leading to the development of the USAAF B-9 Parka & A-8 trousers as a suit, which was standardised in 1943 following on from this Down Coat. With his branding present on issued garments, his name was instantly recognisable by many serviceman following the war which led to a rapid post-war boom for his business.

This version from Warehouse is made to their unwavering repro standards in Japan. The outer shell uses a selvedge yarn dyed typewriter cloth, a very dense plain woven cotton, while the lining makes use of a quilted rayon satin. For added warmth on the bonce the hood features a wool/suede lining while there are nylon elbow patches and a zip front using a repro Talon zipper. Two slash pockets, woven cuffs and hood have been paired with a 90% down to 10% feather ratio to complete this cracking take on a historic jacket.
