Another example of Orgueil's superb craftsmanship and attention to detail and quality, the Aviation Coat is a beautifully and lovingly constructed jacket.

Taking inspiration from early open cockpit aviator's coats of the 1920's and 30's such as the 'Barnstormer', worn by daring air circus and stunt pilots during the early heyday of aviation. Typically cut long in the body with a fur shawl collar, the Barnstormer was to keep pilots insulated and warm in the frigid Conditions of early flying.

Orgueil takes the recognisable shape of these early aviators jackets, mixing in an element of tailoring and refining the overall shape and appearance. The leather used is a simply superb vegetable-tanned horsehide, which due to the tanning and oiling process is super soft to the touch, with a depth of colour and unique natural grain running through the hide.

The plush mouton collar is of an extremely high grade, soft and rich in colour, which adds a surprising amount of extra insulation and warmth, as does the wool tartan which sandwiches an insulating layer of batting between the shell and the lining.

For the thickness of the leather and the extra layers of insulation, you think would add an element of bulk to the coat, but the tailored construction still cuts a smart, elegant silhouette.

As with all Orguiel products the focus on construction and quality of components is second to none, which is evident in every stitch. The back of the adjustable cuff strap and waist pockets are lined with a Donegal Tweed; the sleeves are lined with a smooth Nylon for ease of wear, and hidden knitted wool 'storm' cuffs keep out the wind.

A fine example of a classic style, which Orguiel really makes its own with some subtle but unique styling and attention to detail that makes this companies products so special.
