Twenty years on from FULL GEAR, the now out-of-print research volume on U.S. flight jackets (flying clothing) that sold out as a self-published book priced in 2005 and attracted attention both in Japan and overseas.
The latest work by Mitsuhiro Aota—one of the foremost researchers specialising in American vintage clothing—is the third instalment in the series and a collectible book on the U.S. Navy, the result of more than forty years of research.

In addition to rare photographs of original U.S. Navy jackets, trousers, flight suits and other items, the book draws on primary source material in the form of specification documents collected over many years. These have been meticulously examined to identify contract numbers, dates of issue and supplying manufacturers, forming a truly impressive database. Another highlight is Aota’s distinctive historical analysis, developed through a dual approach that considers both surviving garments and their original specifications.
