The Union Supply Jacket from Sun Surf is a classic piece and falls under the brand's reproduction of The Union Supply label. Japanese-born Yasuda Kayoji founded 'The Union Supply Company' in 1922 and expanded his business by successfully providing high-quality workwear for Japanese immigrants who had moved to Hawaii for work.
This classic style became a mainstay in their line-up and was favoured by workers due to the loose-fitting, lightweight yet coarse, long sleeved properties. The 10-ounce Palaka check fabric shirts and blouses produced by the company were simple yet durable and easy to move around in.
Reproduced by Sun Surf in Japan, this iteration of the Palaka Check Shirt has been produced to closely emulate the earliest Palaka example in the Sun Surf archive. The simple construction makes this item is exceedingly easy to wear as a layering piece, or lightweight shirt jacket perfect for summer.
A simple button front has been paired with a single chest pocket while a woven 'Union Supply' label completes the look.
