Anatomica Single Raglan Coat IV Navy
AnatomicaRedefining classic Americana style through both their European and Japanese lenses, Anatomica meticulously adapt styles, production & function to create clothing designed for regular wear with optimised fit.
The Anatomica Single Raglan Overcoat is often dubbed their 'master-piece' in Japan, hard to get a hold of and with at least 12 months lead time for production. This is a versatile and favoured piece of outerwear, the design focuses on ease of movement so the style is both comfortable and adaptable for the wearer.
This particular model from Anatomica is inspired by a rare coat in their archive that was made by Burberry for Brooks Brothers in New York, with subtle borrowings and influence also from Aquascutum.
Cut in Japan from 100% wool, the fabric comes from the renowned Lovat Mill who are based in the small tow Hawick in the Scottish Borders. The raglan sleeve construction on this Coat is unique as two pieces of fabric are sewn together at the centre of the shoulder, but one piece of fabric is used in a cylindrical shape to create a raglan sleeve. This means there is no excess fabric or shape from the shoulder to the cuff allowing the silhouette to be very natural.
The one-piece sleeve requires unique sewing details and machinery that is rarely used these days and is a further tribute to the manufacturing and construction once used. The fit is large and voluminous and as Anatomica say themselves;
"The coat must flow beautifully when walking with long strides."
Two slash pockets with button closure have been paired with a button front as well as button cuff adjusters to aid fit.
