Megcompany AW26

For AW26, we take a closer look at Meg Company, the team behind four brands we’ve long admired: Yuketen, Chamula, Monitaly and Kluane Mountaineering. Each brings its own perspective, from considered everyday clothing and traditional craftsmanship to rugged outdoor gear, but all share an appreciation for quality materials, heritage design and pieces built to last. We brought the collections together for our latest lookbook, exploring the different characters of each brand and how they come together for the season ahead.

Founded in Edmonton, Alberta, in 1972 by two climbers looking for better gear to withstand Canadian winters, Kluane Mountaineering has spent over 50 years making down outerwear built for the real world. Today, under the ownership of Dylan Lynch, the brand continues to cut, sew and fill its jackets in Alberta, working with a small team and time-tested methods.

There are no mass-production lines or shortcuts here, just durable construction, high-quality Canadian goose down and the knowledge that comes from making clothing in the climate it was designed to handle. From the Rockies to the Arctic and the everyday Canadian winter, Kluane's approach remains rooted in practicality, warmth and longevity. The brand has never needed to reinvent itself; it has simply kept doing what it does best. With production limited to a maximum of 350 pieces each year, every garment reflects a commitment to making dependable outerwear the right way.

Chamula is a brand that needs little introduction at Clutch Cafe. A firm favourite every winter (and Summer for different reasons) we look forward to seeing what they have up their sleeve each season, and AW26 is no exception. From new designs that keep things interesting to familiar classics and seasonal favourites, there’s always something to look forward to in the Chamula collection.

Rooted in traditional Mexican craftsmanship, Chamula works with skilled artisans to create knitwear and accessories that celebrate the beauty of handmade production. Yarns are hand-dyed to achieve rich, distinctive colours, while all of the pieces are hand-knitted, giving each garment its own character and a level of individuality that’s hard to replicate by machine, they really are one of one. It’s this combination of traditional techniques, thoughtful design and a willingness to experiment that keeps us coming back year after year. Whether you’re after a tried-and-tested favourite or something a little different for the colder months, Chamula is always worth a closer look.

We’ll finish with one of our favourite boots we’ve come across in recent years: the Yuketen Canadian Work Boots II. Inspired by 1970s Canadian workwear, they strike that sweet spot between rugged, practical footwear and something rather special. The upper is cut from rare deadstock British suede by C.F. Stead in a rich snuff shade, with a lovely texture that will only get better with wear. Underneath, triple-row stitch-down construction, a supportive leather insole and the distinctive Italian-made Cortina lug sole bring together durability, comfort and some seriously good craftsmanship. Handcrafted in Italy, these are boots made with longevity in mind, and a fine example of what Yuketen does so well: taking familiar workwear influences and elevating them through thoughtful design and exceptional materials.
