Pleats, Precision, Perfection: Navigating NEAT
There’s a quiet confidence in a well-made pair of trousers, and NEAT gets that. Founded in Kamakura in 2015, this Japanese brand doesn’t chase trends or fashion. It mainly focuses on one thing (though they have started to introduce some jackets to their line-up) and does it exceptionally well: trousers.
With clean lines, deep pleats, and carefully selected fabrics, NEAT blends vintage military style & inspiration with modern tailoring and function. Each pair is made in Japan with the attention to detail that we have come to admire from these dedicated artisans.
If you care about fit, feel, and craft, NEAT is worth knowing.
This is our second season working with NEAT, and it felt like the right time to give the brand a proper introduction. Made in Japan with quiet precision, their focus on construction, silhouette, and fabric is what sets them apart. There’s no excess, just sharp lines and thoughtful tailoring. For Spring/Summer, we’re offering two key models: the Standard Chino and the Wool Gabardine Trouser. The Standard Chino takes heavy cues from vintage Polo chinos of the '80s. Think high rise, front pleats, and a bit of ease through the leg, built from a substantial cotton that breaks in beautifully. It's a shape that feels pretty familiar but elevated with NEAT's construction & choice use of fabric. The Wool Gabardine Trouser, on the other hand, leans into the realms of formality, but still manages to work as a casual trouser. The fabric drapes cleanly, holds its structure, and carries just the right amount of weight for year-round wear.
NeaT Standard Chino
The Standard Chino returns for SS25 in three classic colour-ways: white, charcoal, and beige & we expect to be carrying these every season now, with some nice vintage washes coming for SS26.
From the images above, you’ll hopefully get a sense of the full, relaxed fit along with the subtle detailing that makes NEAT stand out. For anyone who’s spent time thumbing through vintage Polo ads, these will feel instantly familiar.
Cut in Japan from 100% cotton, the fabric is soft to the touch and washed for a laid-back, broken-in look straight out of the box. Design-wise, they feature a double-pleated front, giving plenty of room in the top block and a deep rise for comfort. A gentle taper toward the hem adds just enough shape. Finished with two side pockets, two rear double-welt pockets with button closure, and a classic zip fly. They’re timeless, easy-wearing, and built to get better with age.
NEAT Wool Gabardine Standard Trousers
The Wool Gabardine Trouser offers a slightly more refined take on NEAT’s signature silhouette. Cut from a smooth, mid-weight wool gabardine, these trousers drape with a natural fluidity that moves with you. The wool gabardine is clean, slightly dry to the touch, and holds its shape effortlessly making them ideal for dressing up or keeping things sharp day-to-day.
Like the Standard Chino, these feature a double-pleated front, a deep rise, and a roomy top block that tapers gently through the leg. The fit is relaxed but not loose, offering the wearer a bit of structure. As across the board with NEAT details are clean and considered: side pockets, double welted back pockets with button closure, and a classic zip fly complete the style.
If the Chino is your everyday go-to, the Wool Gab is its more tailored counterpart ... easy to dress up, but just as comfortable worn casually.
A Note on the Hem:
All NEAT trousers come with an unfinished hem, allowing you to tailor the length exactly to your preference. Whether you prefer a clean break, a slight crop, or a bit of stacking, this gives you full control over the final fit.
We recommend taking them to a trusted local tailor for hemming. If you’re unsure about length we're here to help with any questions you may have.
