The Real McCoy's Denim Western Shirt / Sawtooth
We wanted to give a bit of a spotlight on one of the most enduring styles we stock. The Western Shirt is much coveted amongst enthusiasts, & has a lasting legacy in popular culture. Originating in the American West in the 19th century, worn by cowboys, ranchers, and frontiersmen, the Western Shirt in its design was both functional & stylish, featuring snap buttons, pointed yokes on front & back, flap pockets & sometimes decorative embroidery or piping.
This version from The Real McCoy’s is cut to the classic form of a Sawtooth Western Shirt, this piece features distinctive pocket flaps shaped into a double-pointed 'sawtooth' design, a timeless Western detail named after the jagged edge of a saw blade.
Falling under their Joe McCoy line, this Denim Western Shirt draws inspiration from 1960’s styles. The denim has been specially woven using layered lighter-coloured yarns to produce a pale indigo hue, authentically capturing the look of that era. Crafted from a 10 oz denim in Japan.
This version of the McCoy’s Sawtooth Western comes unwashed as standard and will shrink when it sees water for the first time. Washing at 30 degrees on a normal cycle, you can expect 1 inch out of the flat chest measurement (so 2 inches overall), 0.75 inches from the shoulder, 1.5 inches out of the sleeve length, and 2 inches from the back length. Subtract this from any of the measurements shown on our size chart to determine your size.
