The Real McCoy's Type L-2A Real McCoy MFG. CO Navy
The Real McCoy's

Arguably the finest Americana reproduction brand from Japan, the Real McCoy's painstakingly recreate and update original garments for the modern day offering the best from the past, replicated to perfection without compromise in Japan.
World War II marked a period of rapid advancement in both aircraft technology and pilot uniforms. By the war’s end, the increased availability of nylon - identified as the optimal fabric by the Aero Medical Laboratory - combined with the onset of the Jet Age, led to the creation of a new lightweight flight jacket: the L-2.
The Type L-2 Light Flight Jacket was first specified in 1945, with production running from 1947 to 1949. Its lightweight construction, comfortable warmth without bulk, and naturally stylish appearance made it an instant favourite among aircrew stationed at bases around the world. The L-2 Flight Jacket was succeeded by the updated L-2A specification - produced in U.S.A.F blue - in 1950. Both the L-2 and L-2A jackets were worn during the Korean War, where they saw action in the first jet-on-jet air battles in history.
This version of the L-2A from The Real McCoy's is crafted from a custom-produced nylon fabric that faithfully replicates the qualities of the original 1950s military-grade material. The fabric is based on Nylon 66, developed by DuPont, prized for its exceptional durability and flame resistance, making it the U.S. military’s material of choice for flight jackets during the Jet Age.
The L-2A Real McCoy MFG. co features nylon ribbing on the cuffs & waistband, while custom hardware features throughout. Brass dot buttons, 1950s Talon sleeve zippers, and a wire front zipper are all black oxide conversion coated to meet Mil-Spec standards, and finished with a black leather pull tab. Two slash pockets with snap closure and sleeve pocket complete the look.
